This accident happened during the summer of 1998. My car was a 1988 Honda Prelude Si. My car was taken by an aquantence without my authorization. They said it was a "practical joke". He and 2 girls went joyriding on a mountain road, taking turns at 70 miles per hour. According to the girl in the front seat, they came up to a long straight away, and the driver floored it and they got the car up to 100, and at the end of the straightaway there was a 15 mile per hour turn. The driver of the car locked up the brakes, and slid into a ditch, you can see it in the first three pictures. The car came up the other side of the ditch, and came back up the other side and hit a tree. I'm standing directly in front of that tree in the first picture. Also in the first set of pictures, you can see the drag marks from the engine and transmission on the pavement, from when the tow trucks had to winch it out of the ditch.

In the second group of pictures you can see the actual car. The front seat was about 4 inches from the driver seat, and the floor boards were all heaved up. The back drivers side wheel didn't make contact with the ground, unless you sat on the trunk, because the uni-body was so twisted.

The driver was not injured in the accident. 2 of the girls had minor injurys, they were treated and released from the hospital that night. The occupants of the vehicle claim that alcohol wasn't   a factor, but I found about 20 empty bud light cans in the car.

Needless to say I was very upset about my car, even before the accident, so when I recived a phone call from the driver, I immidiately went to look at the car. Once I saw the extent of the damages, I decided to call the police and let them handle it. I was never fully compensated for the full value of the car, and I got stuck with the 400 dollar towing bill, to add insult to injury.
